There's 101 Days of Brag Tags

Who's seen Phineas and Ferb on the Disney Channel?

I'm going to go ahead and bet that anyone with kids has seen at least one episode. The thing I LOVE about Phineas and Ferb is that they spend their entire summer vacation (and Christmas break, in the winter special) working on something new each day. They aren't glued to computer screens or video games. They use their imagination and come up with some pretty fun ideas that eventually lead to an awesome adventure. (Not to mention, the Perry the Platypus subplots are HI-larious.)

So what does this have to do with the We Play Unplugged program we're involved in this summer?

We Play Unplugged is focused toward doing the same thing: getting the kids up off the couch, outside, and having adventures. In fact, last night I spent the better part of a few hours writing down some of the requirements for brag badges my kids can do this week while they hang out with me here at the floral. So many of the brag badges encourage kids to use their imagination, play games outside, or create something.

Much like Phineas and Ferb.

Now, I don't know about you guys, but we are HUGE Phineas and Ferb fans at our house, so if my kids can do something even remotely similar to what those two cartoon step-brothers do each week, they are on board.

So, what are you waiting for? Head on over to the We Play Unplugged website, check out the Brag Badge page for your area, and get started on doing something new, fun, and creative this summer!

Brag Badges

In our last post we talked about the We Play Unplugged program. Today, we are going to talk more about what the Brag Badge is.

The Brag Badge is this awesome, dog tag-looking plastic badge that you can stick on the lanyard your child received at school. If your child didn't get a lanyard, or you have a child not yet in school who wants to participate, you can go to the Spanish Fork Chamber of Commerce and pick one up.

Brag Badges are numbered sequentially from 1 to 101 in the Spanish Fork/Salem area. But, the cool thing about the program? If you're going to be in another area, like St. George or Flaming Gorge, you can check out the available brag tags for that area and pick up a couple while you're there!

Everything you need to know about available Brag Badges is all online! They've even got an area for parents to login and track progress toward Brag Badges and set rewards for completing goals. Your kids will love that they can have their own login, too, and locate Brag Badges and find out what requirements they need to complete.

"Hey! But you said this got them off the screens!"

You're right. I did.

And it does.

But because sometimes Brag Badges are delayed in production, the requirements change (this happened a lot last year), or some other reason, it's just easier for everyone involved to have everything listed online. That way everything stays up-to-date and you as a parent don't have to worry about having the wrong information.

So head on over to the We Play Unplugged website, sign up, get your kids logged in, and start earning some Brag Badges. It's going to be super fun!

Can't wait to see you at the floral when you come to claim your Brag Badges!

We Play Unplugged

Have you heard of the We Play Unplugged program yet?

It is this seriously amazing program that encourages kids to turn off the electronics and get out and explore, learn, and have a good time playing. Outside. Away from video games and TV.

Okay, okay, I get it! It's summertime, the kids don't have school, and they've been waiting ALL YEAR to play their video games (or binge watch their favorite cartoons) without having to worry about reading, homework, and bedtime. But too much of a good thing is bad, right? Especially when it comes to screen time. Just read the myriad studies on it, and it will have you wondering why you haven't limited the kids to 10 minutes a day before now! haha (No, seriously, I found myself wondering that after reading several of them.)

Watch this short video for more information on this great program. I promise, the kids are going to love it! My kids participated last summer, and it was seriously the highlight of the year. They couldn't stop talking about it!

So, why am I telling you about this awesome, amazing program to get all our kids up and moving and outside?

Because this year Sweetbriar Cove is participating!

We are super excited to be sponsoring the BAKER brag badge! We've already had a bunch of kids come in and claim their badges. But don't worry if you haven't yet, you've got ALL summer long!

So, I hope we'll see you all soon at the shop!
